overseas use of tracfone lg420g

I have seen a number of posts in which users ask how to use their TracFones overseas.
There have been a number of replies stating that the information is available but that it must be given offline.
Is there anybody able to tell me how I can use my TrafFone overseas? Can I use a foreign SIM card for a while? Can I then put my own back in when I return to the US?
