S390G data rates

S390G data rates

Postby ST Dog » Mon Jul 09, 2012 1:20 pm

What is the official stance on data rates fro the S390G (and other 3G capable phones)?

The booklet that came with the phone has the same old 0.5 units per minute rate like the website.
http://www.tracfone.com/data_svs/price_chart.jsp

However, the phone is not deducting minutes at that rate. Not for web browsing or MMS messages.

If the rate is supposed to be 0.5 units/minute than the phone is wrong and needs fixed.
If the rate is different it should be published in the booklet and online.

Hi ST Dog. TracFone has 1 minute per minute data rate. If you are being deducted more than that, then we will need to check the internal programming of your phone. Please provide to me your phone’s serial number (IMEi/MEID). Thanks.

Jayme,
Where is that rate documented?

The link I posted to the TF web site says:

TRACFONE Mobile Web Access
Each time you access the TRACFONE Mobile Web with your TRACFONE's browser, 0.5 units per minute will be deducted from your TRACFONE. TRACFONE Mobile Web Access Charges are deducted in full minute increments. Mobile Web access of less than 60 seconds is rounded up to the next full minute. 1 minute of TRACFONE Mobile Web Access = 0.5 units of airtime.

Picture Messaging (Multi-media Messaging)
You will be charged 1.0 unit to send or receive a multi-media message such as a picture. In addition to the 1.0 unit multi-media charge, there will also be an additional Mobile Web Access Charge of 0.5 units per minute for the time it takes to send or receive the multi-media message. The total Mobile Web Access Charge will vary depending on the size of the multi-media message being sent or received. Picture Messages = 1.0 unit per message plus 0.5 units per minute of mobile access.

That matches what my past phones charged. That includes LG500G, T301G, and T404G.
So, where do you suddenly get 1 unit per minute?

I have two S390Gs currently active, and several others have posted on other forums that they are not being charged the normal rates on the 3G phones ( Samsung S390G and S425G). At least one person has spoken to Executive Resolution, the rate changed for one MMS message, then reverted to what ever the default is (which no one will tell us).

I have a 3rd S390G to activate. Once I get that done and I have a documented rate, then I'll provide the ESN/IMEI for them as requested.

I would prefer you keep the conversation here in the thread not PMs.
If not I will continue to post your responses here before I reply.

Well that is definitely not what the S390G and S425G are deducting.

I'll send the ESN/IMEI to you once I get home (and get the 3rd phone active).

1) 3...6
2) 3...5
3) 3...0

All three charge incorrect amounts for data transmission.
sending a 70kB picture used 2.07 units, while the same picture was only 1.5 units on my LG500G (1.0 for MMS + 0.5 for data as it takes less than a minute to send)

TracFone - Jayme wrote:Hi ST Dog. Did it take more than a minute to download the MMS?

No, it took about 10 seconds on 3G.
The EDGE download on the LG took closer to a minute, but it was only charged as a minute.

Does the fact that I was not charged a multiple of 0.5 units not stand out to you?

Which tips Jessica?

Edit:
Never mind I found the other place you posted that.

Now, if you can fix the data charge issue...
