LG840

I just bought a new phone today. I have no service once I pull into my driveway. I have no bars on my old phone either but it will still send/receive texts..I bought the phone from a store less than 2 miles down the road, and I checked with Tracfone before purchasing to make sure it would would in this area...it said it would. Now I'm stuck with a phone that is apparently AT&T not Verizon, and it won't work at my home where I need it the most. I have already added a 200 minute card and the phone is virtually useless to me.

I just purchased a new LG840G Tracfone to replace our LG420G flip phone. We had to replace the flip phone because it was random on sending text messages successfully (Tracfone always charged for the minutes for each text message; but only 1/2 of them were actually getting delivered. My wife uses text messages to communicate with her boss so this was unacceptable. Tracfone tried to troubleshoot the problem & said it might be an issue with the phone & reccomended upgrading it.) Since I received the new model LG840G Tracfone, I have spent many hours on the phone troubleshooting with Tracfone with ZERO results. The minutes & phone # from the LG420G transfered successfully; but I have not been able to make a single call or send a text so the phone is basically useless. Tracfone reps have been equally useless troubleshooting. Each time I get a new ticket # and after trying numerous things I get the standard we will work on this in the next 72 hours which never happens. I thought the Tracfone would be a good way to cut down on our monthly cell phone bill; unfortunately, it isn't worth anything if it does not work. The 2 most recent ticket 3s are: 1067142047 & 1067143839. My AT&T cell phone has NO problems with signal reception at my house; the older Tracfone LG420G had no problems. The new LG840G must not have a decent signal recept ability.

No, you won't be able to do that. That phone will only work on on GSM networks like AT&T or T-Mobile that use SIM cards. Verizon is CDMA and doesn't use SIM cards.

Re: LG840 volume

I was not sure where to post this. I just bought a new tracfone, a LG840g to replace my old LG800 tracfone.

I find the volume of the speaker way too low compared to my old phone. I adjusted on the side to "7", but still very low compared to the old phone. I find the same with other features, like the level of the alarm. Again, i have adjusted the level of the ring and changed to serveral rings, but no improvement. Suggestions?
