Activation problems with new J3

I recently purchased a Tracfone Samsung Galaxy J3 Orbit from Amazon and activated it with a $25 60 day service plan about two days ago. When I check the balance in the My Account app the number is listed as active but I have no mobile service - the SIM card still lists my number as '000-000-0000' and I'm unable to make calls or receive SMS. I'm able to view the My Account page but can't login - when I try to create an account it sends a verification code to my phone which I'm unable to receive. Any help would be appreciated.
