My number porting nightmare!

My number porting nightmare!

Postby Lee292a » Tue Apr 30, 2019 4:44 pm

My wife wanted the convenience of a mobile phone, so I purchased a Tracfone LG Rebel 4 for her birthday, and so far it's been a nightmare. We had been using a Straight Talk Home Phone. We received an e-mail stating we would get $25 on a one-year card if we bought a new phone in March, and we ordered one directly from Tracfone. I gave her the phone this past Sunday, and when I tried to activate it, I was asked for the airtime card's number. I didn't have one. I called tech support, giving them the order number and after about an hour, I found someone other than me had used the airtime card for THEIR phone, and I would have to buy another, so I did. I got the number ported (it shows up on the phone), but when I call the new phone, I get "Welcome to Verizon Wireless. Your call cannot be completed as dialed..." When I try calling out on the new phone, I get Verizon's welcome message, along with "this call cannot be completed because there are restrictions on this line..." I have rebooted the phone several times to no avail. I have the LG Rebel 3 as my personal phone and it works fine. I've called Tracfone's tech support line twice, and now they say it may be up to 72 hours before I get my service back, if then. What's going on?
